How to Win: With 21, winners are really anyone who isn’t forced to drink by messing up or being the 21st count.

How to Lose: Lose by being the player that has to say the 21st count.

Gameplay Summary

Everyone playing forms a circle. Choose a starter person. The starter with choose the direction of the game (left or right). The game is started when the starter says “to my right, 1″ or “to my left, 1″ to identify the direction of the game and the second person to play. The next player, and each consecutive player, simply says the next higher number that comes after the last number the previous person said.

Instructions & Rules

  • If any player chooses to count two numbers in a row during their turn (say player #3 says 3,4), the direction of the game reverses and player #2 would need to say the next higher number (5). The starter and every regular player may do this, except for the 21st count player.
  • If any player chooses to count three numbers in a row during their turn (say player #5 says 5,6,7), the player follow following them is skipped, but the game continues in the same direction (if player #5 did this, it would skip to #7). The starter and every regular player may do this, except for the 21st count player.
  • If anyone says “21″ at any point in the game and isn’t the 21st count, they have to finish their entire drink.
  • The player who is the 21st count must finish their entire drink. This player is treated to getting to make a new game rule for their troubles. Everyone must follow the rule created by each 21st count player. New rules are added to old rules. A 21st count player may choose instead to remove a previous rule instead of creating a new one.
  • The 21st player who has to finish their drink becomes the new starter.
  • All rules must be followed. Anyone who does not follow a rule must take a drink.
